A school teacher who is proficient in budgets revealed how she transformed her bedroom by adding two stylish DIY downlights beside the bed.

After Emily Duncan, a 22-year-old first home buyer from Sydney, purchased all the items she needed from Kmart, the renovation cost was only AUD 78.50.

Emily told FEMAIL that the most expensive part of the renovation was a pair of woven lampshades, each priced at $29.

A school teacher who is proficient in budgets revealed how she transformed her bedroom from a basic style to a luxurious style by adding two stylish DIY downlights beside the bed, as shown in the picture

The "before" lens of the bedroom lacks the sophistication that the light brings to the room

The young woman said that the renovation "does not require tools or electricians."

"I use push lights with remote controls instead of hard-wired new lights, which means that when I change my mind, we know that I might change my mind soon, and I didn't waste hundreds of dollars," she revealed.

Emily posted a video on Instagram showing how she made a stylish downlight that can be operated with a remote control.

The video starts with the teacher measuring the space between her bed and each wall so that she can hang the lamp in the correct position.

Then she marked their location with a pencil, and then put a sticky hook on the ceiling.

After that, the young woman tied the jute rope to the lampshade and fixed the remote control lamp to the base.

Then, she hung the light, immediately changed the room and inspired her followers, and she published dozens of comments on the ingenuity of the lighting solution.

After the 22-year-old first home buyer Emily Duncan from Sydney bought everything she needed from Kmart, the renovation cost was only AUD 78.50.

This young woman completed the project by herself, without using heavy tools and without the need for an electrician

Emily said: "I am very satisfied with the final product, and I am proud that I have done it all by myself," someone commented: "From apprentice to mechanic."

Emily also posted videos and photos showing the transformation on the Facebook page of Kmart hacks.

Even ordinary Kmart shoppers were impressed by the hacking—especially the use of remote control lights.

Others copied this idea and said they were surprised at how easy it was to copy.

The camping lights also from Kmart are remote-controlled and very suitable for work

'You have a mimic cat in your hand, yes, me. Thank you. We bought it two years ago, and I wanted to have such a light on the roof, but we don’t have one, and now I can,” a woman said.

One lady decided to do something similar in her hallway, while others said that this idea is very suitable for renters.

Emily and her plumber partner Cam are currently decorating their home together.

They are uploading the skills, photos and lessons they learned on the way to Instagram, and hope to become "professional house flippers" one day.
